City of Delaware Selects Team to Develop Old Hotel Site
Delaware City Council voted Monday, June 13 to move forward with contract negotiations with the development/design team led by Miller Valentine Group to develop the old Delaware Hotel site located along S. Sandusky Street in Delaware. As a part of that team, M+A Architects will be leading the design efforts for Miller Valentine.
To be named Delaware Place, this multi-phased project will include a total of 89 residential units for residents age 55 and older as well as a 10,000 sf commercial building that will include a community center for the residents and additional lease space for wellness related service providers. Phase I of the project consists of 49 residential units located in a 4 story building and 5 single story duplex villas. The design of these buildings is intended to reference the many historic buildings in downtown Delaware and Ohio Wesleyan University as well as the large farm houses and mansions along US Route 23. The architectural design is a classic style with materials that simulate the typical palette of the local vernacular. Phase II will see the rest of the residential units built in a 3 story building and 2 duplex villas along with the Wellness Center.
The project will be going through zoning over the next couple of months and will be submitted to OHFA as a tax credit application in October of 2011.
M+A is thrilled to be a part of the team that will be working on this very exciting project!
