In July 2011, the creators of Cup O Joe coffee shop opened a new MoJoe Lounge in Downtown Columbus in the Lazarus Building along High Street. M+A Architects designed their new space, which not only included a hip place to stop for a cup of coffee or cappuccino, but also featured a full restaurant and bar. M+A's designers took on the challenge of creating a space that could transition from the coffee shop and lunch hangout by day to a cool bar and lounge at night. We were able to achieve this by using warm finishes and dramatic lighting. With 17 foot tall ceilings and windows we realized that we needed to bring down the height to make it a more intimate and enjoyable space. To do this, our designers created fabric swirls (like cappuccino swirls) that hang from the ceiling giving the space a more human scale while catching white light by day and amber light in the evening.
We recently had photos taken of the space and wanted to share them with you.
