M+A Employees Involved in Volunteer Events
M+A Employees participated in several volunteer events during the month of April:
The Girl Scout Leadership Conference 2010
"No one can do everything, everyone can do something." One of the primary Girl Scout motto's behind receiving the silver/gold award. Nationally only 5% of Girl Scouts earn the Gold Award and those from the Ohio area were invited to attend a Leadership Conference in The Ohio 4-H Center at the Ohio State University on April 23rd. At this function, they were introduced to a variety of educational, career and volunteer options. M+A Architects was there to explain to the eager girls what architecture was all about. M+A'ers Suzanne Cody and Andrea Knoch went over what goes into a set of drawings as well as the education, training, and time involved with becoming a registered architect.
Later in the morning, Andrea lead a break-out group during the "Diverse Careers for Women" session sharing her interests in architecture and advice to those who were interested in pursuing the profession.
CEFPI School Building Project Day 2010
The local chapter of CEFPI (Council of Educational Facility Planners International) held their annual School Building Project Day on Friday, April 30th. M+A'er Nikki Wildman joined about 20 other volunteers to clean out an interior courtyard and install new landscaping at Kae Avenue Elementary School in Whitehall. The volunteers worked with the students on a planting project there and also gave an educational presentation.
CEFPI is a worldwide non-profit association whose sole mission is improving the places where children learn. Members include people from various professions that are involved in the planning, designing, building, equipping and maintaining of schools and colleges.
