This App is so Kule
Color selection really scares me. The use of color can be so right but, at times, it can be oh so wrong. I know you know it. You've been there too.
John Hench was an artist at Walt Disney for over 65 years and he had this to say about color: "Color is a very critical thing. I've found that architects don't like colors. Engineers too. And so somebody has to stand in. Because this is the finish of it. It is the emotional part of a structure."
Color is powerful stuff. It is a facet of design that is so vast and so rich that it can make or break a project. We work really hard to design a spatial experience that is many things: comfortable, inspiring, spiritual, innovative, safe or efficient, but the right color choices can enhance the space in a way that makes people want to be there. However, the use of color can evoke feelings so intense that a well-intentioned design can lose its effectiveness.
Fortunately, whether you are selecting a color palette for your next project or toying with search topics for your next Pinterest pin, Adobe has come up with a web-based app, called Kuler, for empowering even the most color-timid designer.
Its an intuitive app that you can grasp quickly and feel immediately confident using. You can select the base color on the wheel by dragging the color selector or typing your color model numbers (RGB, HEX, etc). Kuler will place your selection 7 palette development options: Analagous, Monochromatic, Triad, Compound, Shades, - and for you "Luis Barragans" - Custom. If you check it out, you'll quickly discover this app not only takes the fear out of picking colors, it makes color selection fun!
And, it also comes in a mobile app so you can even take it with you. Don't just use a tinge of color, use it boldly.
