Union County Court Archives and Office Building

Catalyst for change.

While converting an existing building for adaptive reuse, an inviting new façade that better complemented the historic downtown area was created. Located in the heart of Marysville’s historic district, the Helig-Meyers furniture store sat vacant on an important corner of South Main Street and 6th Street, in Uptown Marysville. Union County Commissioners purchased the former furniture store to restore + repurpose it as the County Courthouse Annex Building.

M+A worked closely with the county, in the adaptive reuse of this sturdy, yet dated structure. The interior was gutted and redone adding new county offices for the county prosecutor, archival storage, and the detective bureau.

Office space was also dedicated to house the Marysville Entrepreneurial Center, a small business incubator. But, the most dramatic impact was the renovation of the exterior of the building, which transcended a plain concrete façade into a building with character and detailing that complements the Uptown Marysville district.
